Summary
Glassline Corporation’s Purchasing Manager is responsible for the purchasing function of the Corporation. He/she is responsible for the purchasing staff, setting the purchasing process standards, evaluating suppliers, reporting/advising other staff, Divisions, and departments on the purchasing process, managing purchased part inventory, developing strategies to optimize cost and reduce risk, negotiate contracts, and maintain records.
Essential Functions
- Develop/enhance the company’s procurement standards, and ensure compliance.
- Oversee the work of Purchasing Clerks and also prepare purchase orders as needed.
- Work with Engineering to confirm part specifications, drawings, and other part requirements.
- Work with Operations and other Staff to confirm and coordinate scheduling requirements, and identify delivery delays/problems proactively in support of schedules.
- Coordinate with vendors, confirming any purchase order discrepancies, delivery dates, and handling vendor returns.
- Evaluate Suppliers. Support vendor relations, gather price data, negotiate pricing, negotiate and determine best shipping method for price/delivery concerns.
- Proactively pursue cost or lead time reduction by researching for alternative parts, manufacturers or suppliers.
- Ensure that all purchasing data is maintained within the ERP system, so that job reporting and tracking is accurate.
- Work with Inventory/Warehouse as needed to maintain and adjust appropriate stock and reorder levels.
Competencies
- Contract negotiation experience or similar
- Evidential knowledge or education in Inventory management.
- Extensive capability and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP systems(JobBoss).
- Excellent communication and organizations skills
- An ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am. to 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is not expected, although visiting Supplier’s may be required.
Required Education and Experience
- Degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, or related field.
- Experience as a purchasing manager, or a similar position.
